Jeffrey Scott Mack

Tim Mechling sits down with Jeffrey Mack Scott for an engaging episode of Shut Up and Listen, diving into Jeff's unconventional musical journey. They discuss how he didn’t pick up the guitar until his late 30s and reflect on his background in punk rock and hardcore, drawing comparisons to his current approach to country music songwriting. The conversation delves into the storytelling nature of songwriting and examines how country music evolved in the wake of 9/11. Jeff also shares insights into his collaboration with Hannah Wyatt on his latest album. This episode is packed with thought-provoking discussion and creative inspiration you won’t want to miss.

Jeff Mack grew up in the suburbs of St. Louis, Missouri, before moving to Idaho in 1997 and later settling in Bellingham in 2002. A carpenter and builder by trade, he enjoys writing music whenever possible. Jeff crafts songs to tell stories and writes stories as a way to better understand the world around him and his place within it. His music draws inspiration from the mundane events that connect us all, living in the space between the urban landscapes of the Midwest and the dark forests and rivers of the Pacific Northwest.
