DIY Show Review: Mutual Stoke, Spawn & Laamb
Hosted by one of Bellingham’s newer diy show houses, the night started with Mutual Stoke- a 2 man band with an insane amount of energy. They started off the show super strong and super punk, instantly getting the crowd to mosh. Between their mix of heavy punk and riot vocals, they created the most classic grimey house show experience. A super solid band to start the night.
Following Mutual Stoke, Spawn started to set up. Their instruments: drums, a soundboard & a sword with some random device attached to the end. To describe the sound of Spawn, there is none. It is a completely unique experience. The best way one could explain it is psychedelic, hardcore psychedelic and possibly eclectic. I have to say it is the most interesting set I’ve seen in my time at shows and I would 100% go see them again. Spawn is a band you have to have your own experience with. I highly encourage whoever reads this to go see them.
Closing out the show, and arguably the best performance of the night, Laamb took the stage for their 50th show. Self- described as garage punk, noise punk, post hardcore they clearly knew what they were doing. As a whole, the energy Laamb exuded in to the crowd was incredible. The mosh pit never ended the entire set and everyone was moving. If you weren’t a fan of Laamb before the show, you definitely were after. Laamb just released an album January 20th called Seagullville which can be found on Spotify & other streaming services. They also have an EP on the way.
