Show Review: Cedric Burnside @ The Wild Buffalo on May 24th
Cedric Burnside’s performance at the Wild Buffalo was a beautiful blend of blues and country music. He has such a charismatic personality making a highly entertaining show. The Wild Buffalo’s cozy ambiance added to the warmth of the artists on stage. One was taken out of rainy Bellingham and thrown into a warm southern venue. Soul Five Six, the openers for Cedric Burnside, were a great start and segway into the main event. Their sound pulled you in and made the crowd feel like they were part of a small jam sesh. The spontaneity and passion they put into their music emanate into the crowd. When shifting into Cedric’s set his transition from opener to main event was well executed. Beginning with slow melancholy songs that were beautifully played. The energy in the room grew as the night went on to more danceable upbeat country. Burnside’s guitar techniques were unique, his plucking of the guitar brought an amazing and unexpected turn to his music. During the rise in energy through Burnside’s set the crowd was captivated. Many groups pushed towards the front and others hung back to give room to bust a move. Cedric Burnside’s performance at Wild Buffalo was better than I could have imagined. His music is well-recorded and catchy but can not compare to how he performs live. Bringing so much personality on stage during and between sets. The duality he carries and measures as an artist through vibes in songs and stage presence is so well executed, that I would not change a thing. I left Burnside’s show a huge fan craving more. I have nothing but good things to say about his show and can’t wait to see more from him!
